Remarks | John Bifano provided this information about Richard Fuschillo. Richard (Reziero) Fuschillo was born on 10 Jul 1900 in Saviano, Caserta Italy, and was killed one day shy of his 44th birthday. He emigrated to this country with his father Antonio and mother Stefania Alloca and siblings in 1909. He joined the army in the late 1920s and I am fairly certain that he was part of the group that served as the cadre at Camp Atterbury. Special Orders #176 from HQ Ft. Oglethorpe lists Private Fuschillo as a member of the original cadre for the 331st Infantry Regiment. He was transferred from G Company, 3rd Cavalry as a Staff Sergeant. His original assignment was Mess Sergeant (MOS 824) and he became a Platoon Sergeant (MOS 653) in the Service Company of the newly formed 331st Infantry Regiment. The relevant part can be seen below. Special Orders #176 can be found here. |
