Erwin Derhaag pointed me to a newspaper article from The Salt Lake Tribune from September 28, 1944. From this article partially qouted:

Pfc. Woodrow N. Hoover, 32, son of Mrs. Frank Hoover, Provo, whose widow is Mrs. Jean Leonard Hoover, 2107 Vimont ave., died August 20, of wounds received in action in France on August 18. He was born in Provo on Sept 10, 1912, and had lived there most of his life, with the exception of eight years spent in Los Angeles. He attended Provo High School and the University of Utah, where he was active in athletics.

Prior to entering the service in March 1944, he owned and operated Nehi Beverage Co., in Provo. He was assigned overseas in August and was wounded soon after arriving.

Survivors include his widow; mother; son, Woodrow F. Hoover and daughter, Relia Nan Hoover, Salt Lake City.
