| Remarks | Private First Class Whiteman was a member of D Company. The morning report for July 6, 1944 on page 6 lists him as killed in action on July 5, 1944. Page 6 can be seen here as well. The author of this website notes that Private First Class Whiteman does not have a Purple Heart awarded in the ABMC records which is odd as he was killed in action. Private First Class Whiteman was from Pennville, Indiana and the Pennville Blog by Mr. Lillard has two excellent blogposts on him which can be found part 1, part 2. |
