Remarks Private First Class Eggert was a member of A Company. The morning report for July 7, 1944 on page 10 list him as Killed in Action on July 5, 1944.

The following is from the 1944 obituary generously provided for by Don and Susan Eggert: PFC Joseph O. Eggert, aged 30, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto L. Eggert, of 940 Washington avenue, was killed in action in France on July 5, the war department has advised his mother. First word of his death was received by Mr. and Mrs. Eggert July 15 in a letter from their daughter Lieut. Helen Eggert, a United States army nurse stationed in England, who stated that she obtained the information from a patient in her hospital who was in her brother's company.

PFC Eggert was born Aug. 31, 1913, at Logansport, Ind., and came here from that city three years ago. Before his enlistment in October 1943, he was engaged in farming. He was sent across four months ago.
