Remarks Private First Class Clayton D Hicks Jr. was a member of M Company. The morning report for July 21, 1944 on page 28 shows him joining M Company from the 41st Replacement Battalion per July 19, 1944. The same morning report for July 26, 1944, on page 35, lists him as Killed in Action on that same day. The relevant pages can be seen below.

Erwin Derhaag pointed me towards a newspaper article on Pfc Hicks which reads:

Pfc. Clayton D. Hicks, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. C.D. (Jack) Hicks of Anniston, who was reported killed in action on July 26. He had been in service since Sept 1, 1943, and took his training at Camp Gruber, Okla. He left for overseas last May and was stationed in England until the invasion of France.
