| Remarks | The following information was provided for by Fred Clinton, webmaster of the 63rd Infantry Division site at http://www.63rdinfdiv.com/. A picture of Merrill can also be seen on his website here. Private Merrill E. Reeder, 33764367 was assigned to C Battery 861st FA Bn , 63d Infantry Division at Camp Van Dorn, MS on 19 September 1943 about the same time as I was assigned to the 63d Infantry Division. He was reassigned from the 63rd Infantry Division on 7 February 1944 and went to the 83rd Infantry Division as a replacement. The author of this website noticed that the headstone says Merrill L. Reeder but abmc.gov and Fred's website state otherwise. The author contacted ABMC and they recognized that the headstone has the wrong engraving and they will fix this. Once a new engraving is made i will make a new picture. |
