Remarks Benjamin Stanley Hynoski, son of Stanley and Stella Hynoski, was born on May 1, 1913 at Midvalley, PA. He received his early education in Our Mother of Consolation School, Mount Carmel, and later attended Conyngham Township High School, Aristes, PA. He became tipple man at Hazle Brook Coal Co.'s breaker at Midvalley, PA, where he was engaged at the time he was called to military service February 14, 1944.

He trained at Camp Blanding, Florida before he was sent to Fort George Meade, Maryland from which military center he was sent overseas. The morning report of C Company, 195th Infantry Training Brigade at Ca mp Blanding, Florida shows Ben being released from this unit and sent to Ft. Meade. The morning report and special orders can be seen below.

The morning report for E Company, 331st Infantry for August 19, 1944 shows him joining the unit from the 53rd Replacement Battalion on August 19, 1944 while holding the rank of Private. The morning report for January 31, 1945 shows him being reassigne d as MOS 653 Squad Leader with a promotion to Staff Sergeant on January 15, 1945 . The morning report for March 4, 1945 shows his status changed to missing in action on March 2, 1945. The morning report for March 8, 1945 changes his status to killed in action on March 2, 1945. The platoon roster of E Company, 331st for March 2, 1944, courtesy of Frank DeCarolis, lists him as squad leader for 3rd Squad, 2nd Platoon, E Company.

Research by the author of this website showed that he was killed while 331st was fighting to reach the Rhine at Neuss near the Erft Canal, Germany.
