Remarks The Schuylkill Haven History website has an entry on PFC Knarr:

PFC Ivan Knarr, son of Mrs. Amy Moyer, Main Street, Schuylkill Haven, who made his home with the A. H. Heim family, Auburn R. D. has been killed in action in France on July 19 according to word received by his mother on Wednesday. PFC Knarr enlisted in the service in January 1941 and was trained at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Camp McCoy, Wisconsin and Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky and left for duty overseas in April. He was a member of an infantry group and had been stationed in England prior to the invasion of France. He was an active member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Summer Hill and was a member of the Luther League of the Church and a choir member. He is survived by his mother and one step brother, Sterling, serving in the Navy and two sisters, Mrs. Viola Gouldner and Treva.
